My family and I are looking to move to Katy between now and next summer. We are hoping to purchase but may have to rent a home and possibly do a rent to own. One of the things that may complicate it is that we have a pet miniature pig. It is 1 year old and when full grown will only be the size of a bulldog. I know a lot of places accept cats and dogs but I wonder how accepting they will be of a pig. I don't know how many people realize there are small bred pigs out there and if they will hear pig and think of a 500lb hog. Anyone have any info or opinion on this. Thanks a lot.

You could have a pig roast before you move... I imagine you'd have no problems fitting that on a standard chicken rotisserie.

HAHA thanks for suggestion. I'm thinking my 10 year old would be heartbroke if we ate her pet plus those are not good eating.

Is it a potbellied pig? I think those are ok.

yes it's a miniature pot bellied pig. We've talked to a realtor and she said she thought they would be accepted the same as other household pets. I just wonder if that does keep us out of certain subdivisions due to HOA.

My kids are dirtier than pigs.

Just sayin'...

Certain HOA can be very picky. I know in Cinco you can only have a max of 2 pets I believe, don't know if it applies to pigs. Main thing check with the HOA first before buying or renting, let your Realtor earn their commission.

Thanks for the input. We have been doing a lot of searching from home to pin down an area but we were just curious if there some certain HOA's that we can go ahead and cast off.

A homeowner was recently sued by their HOA somewhere in north Harris county for keeping a pet pig. The court ruled in favor of Wilbur the pig. I think you can keep your pig if you can prove the pig is a pet.
