How many of you have no desire to drive outside of your neighborhood/area where you live? I usually tend to only stay in my neighborhood. Shop, cook at home, work (thankfully work is nearby! I used to commute 45 mins!), etc. The only time I will get off my butt to go hang w/ friends is if it is centrally located (for me, that's Galleria, or other trendy areas, friends are spread out)

I live in Sugar Land and don't have any desire to drive to any other part in town unless I absolutely HAVE to.

Am I turning into an old lady (I'm 24) or am I just lazy?

My range is strictly along I-10. EC to RO. that's it.Its about a 20 minute drive with or without traffic max. Anything else requires a blood transfusion.

Took me over an hour to go to Sugarland for crappy sushi....once. That did me in, done.

Same here. Besides football games there is little that gets me out of Clear Lake and Galveston county.

When I go to work, I have to drive to Houston. When I finish my work, I'm begging to drive home. And when I'm home, 95% I'm staying around my neck of the wood unless work drives me back. Even free tickets to concerts and sporting events will not convince me to spend 1 hour back and forth. I rather spend 1 hour cycling, imitating Lance Armstrong (Livestrong spokesperson, not Tour De France athlete), mold into living a healthier life.

Other than when Shila and I scoot the Harley and hunt up ice houses, we're the same way. Virtually no reason to leave our neck of the woods. We've been here so long that we've seen it all and done it all. There's no place like home... (to coin a phrase). We're old (54 and 59), so I suppose you're just lazy. j/k

Ronnie

I'm the same way! I was born and raised inside of the Loop, but moved to the suburbs (Spring, and then Tomball) about 25 years ago.

When I drive in Houston now, my neck is so tense by the time I get wherever I'm going, I have a headache.

My two daughters did the exact opposite. They were born and raised in the suburbs and moved to Houston as soon as they could. One moved to Midtown and the other moved near Montrose. They make fun of me, because I hate to leave my surburban bubble.

I get the last laugh though. My oldest is closing on her first house next month, because they want their kids in a better school district. Where are they moving? Cypress.

24 and you think you're turning old? Yikes. I guess that means I'm ancient.

I vowed that moving to the suburbs wouldn't cause me to become one of those people who never leave my neighborhood so I drive to Houston for church, museums, theatre, dining w/ friends, and special events at Reliant. I would definitely move inside the loop if doing so didn't mean I would have to work a lot more than I do and that would mean time away from my young children.

Wish there were a train from Sugar Land to downtown, though. 59 and 90 are not very appealing.
