Default Home Insurance Recommendations

I am currently with Farmers and I hate it. They raised $300 suddenly. I live in Northwest Houston.

Any good recommendations?

I called Amica but they are pretty expensive!!

Most companies have raised rates due to loss experience and low returns on investment. Try combining auto and home as well as life if you carry it. Also, raising your deductible and keep some extra cash around in case of an actual claim.

Did your quote from Amica include the rebate? My friend loves them. They were higher, even with the rebate than the Nationwide we have had for years.

I had Progressive (Homesite) for homeowner's and they raised my rates about $300 this year AND raised my deductible from $500 to 1%/2% hurricane. Switched to Liberty Mutual and got my premium down under $1200. I guess it's kind of like electric plans, you just have to shop around and keep switching every year when they raise your rates.

I have heard good things about State Farm, but I doubt the rates would be any lower. Customer service seems to be very good, though.

I hear great things about state farm also but they are usually the most expensive. You have to pay for their quality.

Check with the company that you have your car insurance with, sometimes you can get a deal for bundling or ask the loan officer you worked with, most of the time the company they work with has best deals or find an insurance broker who can find you the best deal

I use an independent agent. they are by far the best option. Call cherryjohns, and another. I use a guy with the woodlands financial group, jason halstead. You have to cross shop these guys every single renewal. Its a very cut throat business, and they work much harder for you if you dont just let them autorenew you.
