I'm Filipino and I wish Jolibee would come to Chicago too! When I visited the Philippines Nov 2010 I ate at Jolibee a lot. But in the Philippines there was no mash potato and I suspected the quality of their meat in their burgers. America provides better quality beef for burgers, and I don't think they cattle ranch in the Philippines.

I would be ecstatic if a Goode Co BBQ and a Pappsitos opened up here!

In the Philippines, everything is served with a side of rice instead of the stateside mashed potatoes w/gravy. I'll never forget Cebu Pacific passing out Chickenjoys for lunch at Cebu-Mactan Airport after the plane's engine for my flight to Manila broke and we watched everyone else who had flights after us pass us by. It took about 8 hours to get back in the air again!

But McDonald's fries is much better in the RP. It's not like here where it seems someone spilled the salt shaker on the fries.

I will remember the halo-halo at Chow King on the first oasis on NLEX in Pampanga. It was much better than the halo-halo at Jollibee's the day before. Really sad since Chow King is one of Jollibee's brands!

Default Houston - First City in Texas to get a Jollibee Restaurant

If this doesn't make us world-class, then I don't know what does.

The Jollibee opened today and the lines are crazy! They even had people lining up at 5 a.m. just to be the first 100 (they had a giveaway) when the doors opened at 7 a.m.

We were talking to the manager and with a member of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce here in Houston (who my coworker happened to know), and apparently Red Ribbon is opening in the empty space right next door to Jollibee. There's also a Seafood City that will be opening in the area sometime in the next year (they're still finalizing a location). Plus, Jollibee's next stop will be Sugar Land.

Hehe good luck! We waited in line for more than an hour. Parking was a pain and people were just double-parking everywhere. At least they had the good sense to set up tents and fans outside so people in line wouldn't melt, plus they were handing out cups of cold water.

We left at 1:30 and the line showed no signs of letting up. I can't imagine what it would be like this weekend.
