if you want to be near the airport kingwood is probably your best bet and you will find homes that are quite nice at that price point. In Kingwood, I recommend looking into homes in Fosters Mill and Sand Creek both are lovely neighborhoods and very quiet.

Lachifa: My advice is to start with your work location. Connect with a recommended realtor in that area and look with the realtor. If you work downtown and have school age kids, that changes the situation. However, as many times as I have moved, I still recommend a visit to Houston to meet with a realtor for a thorough discussion of your needs. My family tried to find an area near the Medical Center, but cost and school needs drove us out to the suburbs. Since I work off I-10 in the Energy Corridor, we finally decided on Katy schools and have purchased a house. If you have been reading the posts, you will know the commute time is important, so try to find an area that suits your lifestyle near your work area(s) if at all possible.

why do you say this? We bought our house 4 years ago and it is still holding its value in the community. Also it is hard to sell a used home when the new homes are still being built and are giving away incentives etc.. I do know that the community is in trouble with HOA dues but they are working very aggressively to correct and get back in the black. Overall the community is a good one imo.

You won't know the value of your house until you try and sell it. Buying a house in a neighborhood like that is like buying a new car, it loses 20% if it's value when you drive it off the lot.
