To the Woodlands guy, there's a few non chain places that are in town or close to it. Chef Chan's (Chinese), Brother's Pizza (okay this is still a chain but the owner runs the one in the Woodlands), Eden Cafe (10 min drive from the woodlands), Aldo's (italian) just to name a few.

Having recently relocated to Houston, I am enjoying the helpful recommendations for delicious food. While working in Mexico, I discovered mole sauce. Now that I am in Houston, surely there is a Mexican restaurant here that serves an authentic, heavenly chicken mole. If anyone has found delicious mole here in Houston, please let me know. I tried Las Alamedas in Cinco Ranch but was not impressed.

"Foodie" friends tell me that Hugo's on Westheimer ($$$) serves regional Mexican dishes with various types of mole.
