Anyone familiar with this development? I found a house for sale on HAR a few weeks ago; there's nothing listed now. However a search turned up a 2011 article saying that an old horse stable property was going to be developed into this. Seems really cool, but prices are not much higher than $100/sq. ft., which seems low for the area. Just wondering, I want to go take a look but know nothing about it.

I found this on Chron.com:

Former stable acreage targeted for homes

By Annette Baird | Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Described as "eco-hip" with an appeal to empty nesters, young professionals and families, a new home project just getting under way in Spring Branch is planned as the start of a multiphase development of hundreds of single-family homes and a town center.

The Kolbe Farms project reflects opportunities that homebuilders see in the area because of the Spring Branch school district and highway access to primary destinations such as the Texas Medical Center and downtown Houston. Reflecting on the trend for environmentally friendly features in new homes, its houses will boast radiant barriers on roofs and reduced lumber usage.

Up and running with one home sold, four under construction and a show home to go on line at the end of the month, the development will initially provide 24 farmhouse-style homes on part of the former site for Kolbe Farms stables at the northeast corner of Kempwood and Hollister.

Developer Frank Liu, who is building through his company InTown Homes, came to an agreement with the city of Houston that two-thirds of the units in Kolbe Farms, named after early German settler Karl Kolbe, would be single-family, detached homes. More than 80 percent will be single-family homes, and the rest possibly a type of townhouse that might not qualify as single-family, said Lloyd Cody, a sales consultant for Liu. Under terms of the agreement, Liu will be reimbursed for infrastructure construction and improvements if certain conditions are met, including a rise in property values.
"We are revitalizing that area," Cody said.

Catherine Barchfeld-Alexander, president of Spring Branch Central Superneighborhood, said the prospect of a single- family home development in the area is greatly anticipated.

They have 18 homesites available at the moment and have recently sold 8. This will be a low impact residential community.

The surrounding area is not very nice, but this developer has done some pretty nice projects in the past. May want to see how large they plan to make it.
