Since Comcast bought out Time-Warner, I've seen my bill for cable+Internet+phone go from $135 to $175, without any increase in quality or quantity of service (except a single HD channel).

Is this what everybody else is seeing?

Anybody have a similar package with AT&T?

I followed the advice to call Comcast and ask for a discount, hoping that someone would drop the price in order to keep me as a customer. Hah! I should have known that would never happen. The customer rep told me that stuff happened sometimes when it was Time-Warner, but Comcast has strict policies against it, and that his job was more important to him than any single customer. I understand his position, but it angers me to see the bill creep up.

Wait wait wait...

When did it switch to Comcast? I am in Austin and we still have TimeWarner - but we would LOVE to have Comcast again. I heard the rumor that Comcast bought TimeWarner, but that was last year... and nothing ever came of it.

Is TimeWarner going away completely? When?

I have the bundled package with AT&T and it's $75.00 a month.

TV: I would recommend an upgraded package for Dish Network (satellite) as the channels are very limited but since I don't watch it often it's not been a priority with me. Also, I'm in a very wooded area so the reception gets skewed occasionally.

Telephone: No long distance included - my area code is 281 but the majority of my calls are to 713 numbers which is considered long distance - you might want to see what additional options might be available.

Internet: Service has been excellent.

Also, I've heard that after the contract is over, they up the price. (They assured me this would not happen, but...we'll see!)

My sister also signed up about a month ago - hers includes wireless and she is very pleased so far and says her picture on the television is much better than before. I'm not sure how much she pays per month but I know she did upgrades.

Time Warner gave up the Houston franchise to Comcast. Time-Warner still operates in other markets.

I have seen my bill increase as well, which they said was going to happen in October. In addition, their service SUCKS. I've had more problems with my Internet (moving like dial up) and trying to get customer service on the phone is a NIGHTMARE, you have to hold for at least 10min. before you can speak with someone and sometimes, you won't get anyone at all.

Needless to say, I've complained and of course, nothing. They have a "if you're not happy, discontinue your service" type of attitude

I got rid of comcast immediately when I heard they were raising rates. I didn't like time warner to begin with. I have dish satellite which I am happy with and at&t dsl which I am happy with (broadband was down all the time when I had it) and a local tlephone line which I may get rid of since we all have cells.

This is what I have, and would recommend:

DirecTV: $46/mo (all basic and expanded channels with XM radio, no movie channels)
Landline: $42/mo (AT&T, caller ID & call waiting)
DSL: $21/mo (AT&T, standard package, 1.5Mmbps)

So as you can see I spend about $110/mo for the three.
