You make your degree work for you. If you are a aggressive person when looking/getting a job and a internship or two under your belt, You can go to TSU. You will get the HBCU experience and be very well qualified for your career path. TSU is a good school if you make it a good school.

You are the one who make your education/degree work for you, not the school.

I don't know much about this particular degree, but based on my experience if it's your advanced degree isn't A) from a top 20 institution, or B) engineering / science related then you're wasting your money.

I think the point people are trying to make is that TSU has some extraordinary problems due to bad management among other things that could possibly detract from any unique experience. Too bad PVAMU isn't on your list. Even though it is kinda in the sticks, that school has a strong reputation and alumni base. I had a super smart co-worker who grew up in suburban Houston, and his dad went to MIT. He chose PVAMU for the same reasons you are considering TSU. However TSU has problems, and periodically there is talk (only speculation) in the news about merging it with UH.

I highly doubt TSU will ever merge with UH.

TSU's not faring well is based on academics and its financial status to provide a well-run university and not the fact that it is a HBCU.

Is the op serious? U of H hands down, it's not even close. TSU is a open enrollment school, you might as well save your money and go to HCC. TSU is for people with no hope.

Houston rapper lashes out against Texas Southern University shooting | khou.com Houston
1. The shooting that happened on TSU campus had nothing to do with TSU students. That was street beef spilled onto the campus because the event sponsored by 97.9 was open to the public. Alot of the music the artist(Trae the Truth) creates caters to a crowd that might get down in criminal activity. Even though he wasn't responsible for the violence.

2. I have a brother that attends PV, my sister graduated from PV, my girlfriend went to PV,cousins went to PV, alot of my friends went to PV, not to mention I know tons of people that go to PV. So understand, I hear all the time PV is ghetto. I mean look at all the rap groups that have came out of PV. It's a joke now that people go to PV to get a record deal now instead of a education. And I've heard of a couple of parties on PV campus that has been shot up before with PV students. I know because an associate I know was caught up in one of those parties. Not to mention I been to both TSU and PV before to hang out a couple of times during my college days. PV is a better school then TSU. But it has the same type of people no matter what campus your on.

Don't be a ass clown, tsu is the worse school in the houston are it's like 13th grade. The school is one problem after the next. They are always a inch away from losing their accreditation.

Saying the school has big problems is one thing, this I agree with. Saying people have no hope for going to TSU is another thing that I would hear coming from a fumbling idiot.

Just accept your "most backwards statement of the year" award with pride and give your speeches to the audience and make it quick
