Default What is hwy 59 like?

Anyone know what hwy 59 is like between texakana and interstate 45? Just trying to plan my drive here. Anything I should know about this route in terms of traffic, exits, speed limit, speed traps, etc. Thanks.

Just wanted to bump this. Has no one driven on this highway. I'm just trying to plan my drive down and google maps used this hwy by default as the shortest distance. Am I taking the best route coming from Chicago here?

I just did it, and have done it several times on my way to Little Rock, AR.

Most of the way is 75MPH and is mostly nice
there's a few towns that you go through and the speed limit droprs to 55MPH and I think one or two towns it drops to 45MPH.

I used to drive from San Antonio to Missouri on I-35, so I absolutely love to drive on I-59 now that I live in Houston.
Compared to I-35, there's zero traffic.
There's several big towns where you can stop.

Keep this in mind, if you go through Shreveport, in Louisiana the speed limit is only 55MPH (big difference)

I didn't see many cops on the road,
but you are going fast enough that there's not need to go over 5+ over the speed limit.

Thank you. That's exactly the analysis I was looking for. Yeah pretty much driving through Little Rock and right by Shreveport to Texakana and onto 59 to 45. I've done the drive on 35 going through Oklahoma City into Dallas from MO. That was a tough drive. Very boring plus the traffic of Oklahoma City and Dallas. Thanks.

Just did that drive last month. Just watch the speed limit signs. There are ton of tiny towns and the speed goes up and down at the bat of an eye. Those small town officers are just waiting to write out of Towners a ticket. And for some reason when we got on 30 from 59, directional signage was poor in Texarkana maybe due to construction and we missed 30. Then same thing on way home - we missed 59 from 30.

Thanks. I'll make note of that.
