Hey everyone so im 28 and thinking of moving from AZ to TX in about 6 months. I'm not sure of where to really start, i do have family in texas but i want to make this move on my own. I need change from the boring life that im living in Az. Ha Ha i dont have any kids want to experience life and enjoy myself. The family that i do have that's currently living in Texas resides in Dallas and i just dont want to live in that city. I really wondered as to some good neighborhoods, general areas maybe that had reasonable prices on living. im willing to travel the distance for the nightlife but would like to be comfortable in my home. Also wondering how is the gay community in Texas? How does the community respond to mixed breed individuals? or minorities? i just want to experience something new. Im originally from San Jose, Ca but have been in Az so long and dont want to return home. California is just to expensive and anyone who knows northern cal knows its ridiculous.. any suggestions, comments, are always welcome

Thank you in advance for any information i receive

Thanks, Nessie

There is a well-established gay community in Houston. The city's mayor is a lesbian.

Im not trying to sell you on Dallas, but is your family the only reason you wouldnt want to live there? Dallas has one of the most vibrant gay communities in the country.

Houston also can make a wonderful home for people who are gay. I wouldnt hesitate at all if you like it.

Ditto.

Dallas is a big place. You can get far enough away to not have mom drop in.

I hear it all the time. It's just a silly way to say mixed race.

For the OP. I think you'll do just fine here in Texas. We have our good people and we have our bad people just like anywhere else. Even the bigots won't make a scene in public. The worse you'll experience is glares or some teen who thinks it's funny to yell out a few offensive slang words at you. Most people won't pay you any mind especially in the larger cities.
