If I was working at the EC, I would take 45 North HOV (using Toll Tag avoiding $5 toll hours) then to I-10 W. I like driving on HOV, no 18 wheelers and no oversized trucks that throws rock chips on my front fender.

To answer your question I think families moving here from the start should think about a more central location rather than a far away suburb. If your job is in energy then most likely any job you transfer to will be in the West so dont move to Pearland, The Woodlands or Kingwood. Try to stay closer to the beltway and not way way out past the Grand in any suburb. That way in case of a job change from the energy corrridor to Sugarland or Downtown will not cost hours of drive time.

Yes, that does make sense. But like many have stated before, the "central" part ain't cheap. I understand if money is not an object that is the best strategy. But as I was saying before, what about all the people who don't have money and better yet, not everyone works in oil and gas. I guess what I'm saying is, if your poor, there is no winning strategy. Most poor people take any job they can get. They probably work all over in every corner.
