Lightbulb North->West side of Houston?

My husband and I are looking for a house right now, he works currently near Cypress, but within the next couple years will probably be in the Woodlands.

I work at beltway 8 and westheimer area, on the west side of houston.

We want to find somewhere in the middle, BUT, his commute coming from my area, and going towards his work, will be against traffic, whereas if we move closer to the woodlands or cypress, i'll be fighting with traffic to get to my office.

Any suggestions? I just spent the last 2.5 years up in DFW commuting 45+ minutes one way (w/out traffic) and i'm REALLY looking to not have a super long commute.

Our budget is around 150-200K i would say, and we're really negotiable at this point, either more inner city (smaller space) or suburby area (more bang for your buck) just as long as it's convenient for our offices, and in a safe area, and near the usual necessities.

This is our first house so we're really excited! but i've only ever lived in the Memorial/Spring Branch area of houston, and i know all along I10 from the west into town, but i'm not as familiar with the northwest side.

Thanks for any advice! (oh, also any subdivisions/areas that people feel should be avoided, that too is appreciated)

Default Cypress and Spring

There are some great areas in both Cypress and Spring. Look on har.com. If you have kids it would be a good idea to visit some schools in each school district. I have heard they are both good districts, but Cy-fair is open concept. Although I heard great things about both areas, my family will be moving to Spring (Wimbledon Estates) in December. Good Luck.

Default Wimbledon

I am glad to hear that Wimbledon is a great neighborhood. As we know not a soul in Texas, I am very nervous about moving. I have a daughter who is 10 and will start at Mittelstadt(sp) in January (5th grade). I also have a 4 1/2 yr old son. Does anyone know of any good preschools near Wimbledon? Any advice you have for me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much
