What part of Kansas City are you from? I am flying to Houston tonight to scout for a nice town to raise my family. I am also a (former) Kansas City stay-at-home mom and have two boys (5 yo and 7 mos) so we're probably looking for about the same thing. If I know what part of KC you like then when I'm looking I'll see if I find anywhere with the same "vibe" and let you know. By the way, I grew up in Shawnee, then moved to DeSoto, then Basehor, and the last place I lived was in old Overland Park. My hubbie is from Pleasant Hill MO. Just so you know where we're coming from and what vibe we're looking for...

By the way, I've been to Houston before and overall, I found the people to be very friendly. I liked the Clear Lake area the best when I visited last year, but this time I'm going to look more inland. I'll report back when I return from my journey.

I was just wondering if you moved from KC to Friendswood? I am looking at moving from Grain Valley to Friendswood & although have visited Houston several times, I've never been to Friendswood & I'm not quite sure about the areas. Are most areas safe in Friendswood or should I look for a certain neighborhood. I want to rent before I buy, but I still don't wanna get locked in to a year lease in an unsafe neighborhood. Thanks to anyone who can help.

You'll find plenty of at-home Moms in Friendswood, as well as working ones too. As far as snooty - I wouldn't worry about. You can always find snooty in just about every area you go ..... it's just part of being human. You will probably find many more nice that unnumber the snooty.
