Hello Everyone,

I am very new to forums but in a real bind. I have accepted a great position in Houston located by the reliant astrodome. I am not familiar with Houston and not sure on where to live. I have read some post and looked online at apartmentratings.com and some apartment sites. However, it is so overwhelming. There are so many options. When I think that I found an apartment that fits my needs I check out the reviews and they are horrible. I need to move in on May 13, 2013. I was wondering if someone who was familiar with the area could advise me on what they would recommend. I won’t be able to view any in person so I am hoping people will respond and help me with this decision.

I am looking for a 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment that is in a safe area. It needs to be around 15 miles from the astrodome less is better but I will drive more to be safe. I would like a complex with a pool, and workout facility. It would be great if the place was close to shopping, bookstores, coffee shop, hiking trails, or things to do. I would like to find a place where the rent is $900 or less. I would like to stay away from toll roads. I have no animals and in my early 30’s. It will only be me living in the apartment until my fiancé comes to Houston which would be in 4 months (he is trying to sell the house back in IL and finish his contract). I would like a lease that is for 6 months.

Can anyone please offer some suggestions on apartment complexes that fits this. Again, since I will be alone it has to be in a safe area.

Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Try Meyer Oaks Apartments @ 4600 Beechnut they have one bedroom apt for $715 mth or the Meyer Grove Apt @ 4605 North Braeswood. They are sister complexes, both are safe, inside the loop, and an easy commute to the Reliant Park area. No gym but they are close to Meyerland Mall and the Braes Bayou Hike and Bike trails.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I have narrowed it down to 5 complexes. Would anyone have an advice on these. I am looking at whether the area is safe, how the complex is (if you know), or anything else. Again, I cannot view these in person so any recommendations or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Preserve at Colony Lake
Fairmont Apartments
regency at first Colony
Lake Estates
Milan apartments

thanks!

Contact an APARTMENT LOCATOR. Find them online, a person will contact you and find out everything you want for an apartment and they will take it from there. There is no charge for the service, so don't pay anyone to help locate the perfect place for you. The Apartment Locator will know the area and the different apartment communities, so they'll have first hand experience about the different complexes and the surrounding area. I wish I had done this, but I didn't find out about them until the last minute and didn't have time to use them. Good Luck!
