there's a Fiesta supermarket and a catholic high school (Strake Jesuit) at the corner of Bellaire and Gessner.

Based on the Houston Chinatown webpage, they are in Chinatown.

Based on that map, my favorite chinese restaurant (Cafe 101) and my favorite supermarket (Dun Huang)
are not in Chinatown because they are on the South side of Bellaire

Chicago #3 (white-black, 75.2)
LA #10 (white-black, 65.2)
LA #17 (white-Hispanic, 62.2)
NYC #18 (white-Hispanic, 62.0)

Just to point out, The City of Houston is losing white people, Kingwood was annexed in 1996 which added whites to the city population but overall it continues to lose whites.

However whites are moving back inside of The Loop.

old 2-story apartment to be replaced w/424 unit five story Hanover apartment, suppose it complements their nearby apartment.

the whites that are coming to the Loop aren't your suburban whites...they're the ones who'll have their kids in private schools, etc.

the ones that are coming to 3rd ward aren't participating in 3rd ward activities or enhancing the area, its strictly a location decision...big difference

well the Strake Jesuit school has been there since 1961 long before Sharpstown went into decline. Obviously they are doing pretty well now if they could afford buy out and demolish out a 7.5 acre apartment.

Goodbye to one of the 63 Sharpstown apartment complexes.

I would think places like my hometown ( Boston ) and places in the northeast, or out west like LA, San Diego and San Fran would be more segregated. Mostly due to the astronomically high cost of living. Therefore many people of color usually being ones of little to less means congregating together in their own neighborhoods according to cultures or mixed neighborhoods.

When you think about it,that can be anywhere and everywhere.
