Did anyone on the variable electric rate plan in 2012 see any increase in electric rates during the summer?

I never do a flex rate power plan. Natty gas prices are not at all tied to power prices.

TXU's MarketEdge plan is based on natural gas prices.

In general, the correlation between elect rates and nat gas prices is similar to that of gasoline and oil prices. I learned that the hard way in the summer of 2008 when my variable rate doubled and I received a $680 electric bill. Since then I've learned to lock in to a 1-year fixed plan every winter. That tends to be when the rates are lowest.

I have many friends who are natty gas and powder traders. It is complicated how it is related because there is so much speculation involved. We don't really see it though. You can get burned bad on a flex rate. I learned that lesson once. I usually do 3-6 month contracts. Put the date in my iphone to reupp with a new company. I have used just about all of them at one time or another. I am at 7.5 right now. I just signed up for the summer.

I can understand how the natural gas traders would have insight, but I'm not sure where your cocaine cartel friends enter the conversation.

My rates are tied in with natural gas. I'll stay with that plan until I see nat gas rates rise.

I wonder how tied to the rates it really is. I know they say it is. My guess is it is more of a marketing tool.
