Currently, I am with Brilliant Energy buy may want to switch to get a lower rate. I always get a fixed rate for 12 months.

For the past 12 months, I have gone under 1,000 kWh usage 7 times which triggers a $8.99 Base Fee.

$0.04949 has been my fixed rate for the past 12 months.

I have done some comparison on the Power To Choose website.

I want to get the lowest price possible. Any suggestions on a company and facts label?

It does not matter what company you pick, they are just fancy billing companies.

Compare base fees and utility rates.

If the company goes under you will be automatically switched to a provider of last resort with no lost of utilities.

I know it does not but what matters is my bill.

You need to compare the rates including any base fees and transmission fees. The best rate you will get including those is probably around $0.10 for 2000kwh. Since you don't use that much you will need to read the facts label for each company and see what they charge at 500 and 1000kwh.

My contract ends next week so I'm shopping around too. See attachment.

So far Summer Energy is the only one that doesn't have a base charge - which can range from 9.95 to 19.95. Summer has some meter charge so I added 3.05 to that calculation. Feel free to add more if we can keep this xls up to date. I'll call Summer tomorrow just to make sure they don't have a base charge and if yes, I'll sign up for Summer 12.

Even with the 8.99 that rate you have now is hard to beat. Lock it up again for another 12 months. You won't be until 1k in the summer.

Those rates are outrageous.

Got these from powertochose . org. The base charge seems to have increased across the board. Have you see cheaper rates?

I have a feeling the amount in the original post doesn‘t include include delivery/transmission charges. I've never seen a rate that low. Lowest I've seen recently is 8.6 for 1000kwh. Under 1000kwh added a base fee of $12.95...which easily adds a penny or more to the rate. Also required automated bill payment.
