It's the deadline to submit proposals. No decision will be made today.

Why is demolishing it equated to corruption? That is just silly. This is about economics. A private developer has to fund this. Maybe you could pay for it. I am starting to wonder if some of you understand basic math.

No a private developer does not have to fund it, most of them seek some kind of tax rebate anyway, second it is not just about ecomonics.

it not corruption but is is houston famous shortiness again.
What will be gained for tearing it down( tax payers still owe 30 million on her ) vs converting her to something that actually can gnerate revenue ?

It'd be kinda cool imo if that one proposal is made about tearing everything down except the frame. Once it's stripper I have no clue what to do but it would be nice to preserve it rather than add a parking lot which I hope doesn't happen.

Just saw the news and there is a proposal to have video projections of Outerspace. They're also talking about exhibits, and a rodeo museum within the facility and a park.

I was hoping for the re-emergence of the "Gaylord Texan" style hotel idea, but this would be pretty cool since it is a real attempt to save the dome, along with preserving the city's past and history at the same time.

And to those who are declaring that the dome will be torn down, now's the time to do something about it and submit ideas or supporting ideas rather than just whining about it on some internet site.

I can give you a huge list of stadiums more than twice as old as the Astrodome and they are still being used.

The minimum that they could do with the Astrodome is to change it into a training center to replace the crappy "Methodist Reliant Training Center"
