COTAs do treatments, all the same treatments OTs do, they can't do evaluation, although they can assist with evaluation process performing assessments delegated to them by OT.
Since you are actually in the field, like my wife, what would you say is the average yearly salary of a COTA who is NOT working overtime or doing multiple jobs creating hours over 40 per week?

It's 60K, for 40 hours. It ranges somewhere from 45K(this is what I would get in school)and 38- 40$ per visit in home care. OTs get 60-70$ per evaluation in HC, and 50$ per visit when they provide treatment. Discrepancy in salaries of OT and COTA usually 20K a year.

This is what in MY state, because it varies from state to state I can't say what COTAs get somewhere else based on my own experience.

I know this is an old post but I figured I'd chime in on the subject. As far as potential earnings for both Cota/Otr. You have the potential to earn alot and yet you may not. As an Cota myself, I earn about 75k working 37.5 hrs in a nursing home. At one point I was earning about 109k woring 50 hours. It all depends on what you command for your rate and what agreement you come to terms with, with the places you work at.

I'm not an OT but I know several in Houston working at various hospitals.

For an OT, the starting range is from $50K - $65K. For an experienced OT with 3+ years of service, the salary is about 70K - 110K.

For an OTA, well I'm not too sure about them, but I'd guess about 15-20% lower for sure, and possibly even lower than that.
