I'm in the real estate business and have been having trouble finding lots that are zoned for multi-family dwellings. How would I go about looking for lots to build multi-family housing units?

You would need to find lots that don't have deed restrictions. It's pretty clear on har.com when you are searching for lots, which ones comes with HOA and/or deed restrictions and which ones don't. Most properties inside the loop don't have these restrictions. The best opportunities for the price exist in the 3rd ward and East Downtown.

If your in the real estate business shouldn't you be able to access that information pretty quickly.

Contact a commercial realtor

Visit Loopnet.com

Confirm the zoning on Harris county appraisal districts website, and a lot of times you can apply for zoning change permits

Seriously? And you're in the RE biz?

What is this zoning you speak of? Houston doesn't have it. Most of the county is the wild wild west.

Maybe if you could tell us what part of town you are interested in, it would help. And are you talking multi-family as in 8 unit townhomes, or an apt complex?

Incredibly vague question, showing a serious lack of industry knowledge, for someone in the RE business.

Yeah, this.

You must not be from here. Get with a commercial realtor from here. If you try and do this on your own, without Houston experience - I can only see it ending badly. This is not a ploy to get your business - I do not do commercial. Whenever I have a person needing this, I refer because I will admit that it is outside of my knowledge - and it sounds as if I would do better than you will on your own. ....and I would suck. Sorry to be so blunt.
