We just found out that we will be relocating within the next year. We are looking for a newer four bedroom in the 220-270k range. We need great schools and a good neighborhood. We have been looking at Katy or Cypress.

Can anyone give advice? Better neighborhoods in our range in Cypress or S. Katy?

Thanks!

There are many places you can find a nice sized home for your price range in either location, but I think Katy has a lot more going for it at this time. What part of town will you, or significant other be working in? The answer to that can also determine the location due to traffic. Katy does have an excellent school system though.

No doubt Katy then. I used to work at Woodcreek myself years ago. I used to visit One Shell Square now and again... is that little bar, Faux Pas (?) still around?

He wasn't familiar with it. The bar that is.

Can you recommend good neighborhoods in Katy? He's only been to Houston a handful of times and someone recommended Richmond, but I've read mixed reviews on here about that area.

My husband used to work at the Woodcreek office, along with many that relocated from NOLA. Katy would be a good location for you guys. Start off by looking at Cinco Ranch and the surrounding neighborhoods. Good luck with your move!

Cinco Ranch
Grand Lakes
Seven Meadows
Pine Mill Ranch
Cardiff Ranch
Falcon Ranch
Silver Ranch
Cardiff Ranch
Falcon Point
Katy Creek Ranch

Zip Code: 77494 (basically anywhere within this zip code you are golden)

Pretty much if you go to har.com and search for single family homes by subdivision you will see what homes are available in that area.

Look at which areas are zoned to the following on the Katyisd website: Cinco Ranch HS, Seven Lakes HS, Tompkins HS. I would advise on coming down and if you plan on building to go ahead and start ordering it now so that when you move it can be ready. Homes are flying off the market and prices are going up quickly. Best of luck with your move!
