I am looking to work in schools in Conroe, and need your help!

Although I have lived in The Woodlands area for a while, I didn't work in the district. My children attended schools in The Woodlands, and as an involved parent I was very pleased.
As a teacher I know we are under more pressure than ever because of testing and budget, but the great PTO's and academic/demographic homogeneity in The Woodlands still make for an above-average learning and working environment.
I get a very different impression from CISD schools in Conroe, where I am considering working.

PLEASE, share plus and cons, I'd like to know how Title I/bilingual schools are, additional expectations of teachers, freedom to create/design lessons, available time for self-growth and personal interests outside school, class sizes, assistance w/special needs and RTI students, support from administration, dual language program. Some school not to go?

Any opinions on Runyan and Milam?

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your views!

If you go on the website, you will notice the schools that have few to no opening and the ones that have more than a few openings. There is a reason. Now, with that said, it is always smart to get your foot in the door at a Conroe ISD school, then transfer. Class sizes will be basically the same. Title 1 is a school that gets extra funding so to speak due to a large lower income population. That doesn't mean you will get paid more, though. They just have extra programs for the students. Bilingual just means that there are students there with English as a second language. There are pros and cons to working in either Conroe area schools and TW schools. However, if it were me, I would focus my search in TW.

Thanks, colcat,
I am familiar with the official requirements, as I have taught bilingual Title 1 schools for 8 years (6 more in regular classes). I guess I didn't make it quite clear, I need to know how they are IN CONROE.
You do get payed more as a bilingual teacher, but nowadays the amount is negligent while the extra load is considerable.

By asking here I was hoping to get some insider information about the "feeling" of those particular schools, the climate as a work place, the level of stress, teamwork, support, parent participation, ability to progress, and time that teachers actually have for personal growth, community involvement, family, etc. after school.

Hello! My husband and I are teachers considering a relocation to Conroe ISD. Did you end up moving there? If so, what did you find out in response to your questions? I have many of the same. I hope it's been a good year for you!
