I love the neighborhoods, but why no sidewalks? I am just curious, because if someone needs to walk their dogs all they have are the streets. Just wondering what everyone else thinks. I guess it's the Dallasite coming out in me. We have sidewalks everywhere here. Blah!

Thanks,
Sc

Lol, we chose our neighborhood (Woodwind Lakes) in nw Houston in large part because it has sidewalks! Between those and the trails and the lakes and shady trees, we figured we would be more likely to spend time outside and it has certainly worked out that way for us. I don't understand why so few neighborhoods bother with sidewalks.

I don't know for a fact, but most likely because that's how the developers wanted it. No sidewalks = more homes in a subdivision = more money.

LOL thanks for all the info. I have also heard that the people in Bel Air in Cali loath sidewalks, because it's a wealthy thing. I was thinking it might have something to do with zoning or something. Just wondering. I am happy either way.

Thanks,
Sc

I think there should be a law that every subdivision with X houses or more has to have sidewalks
and for every house in a subdivision, there should be a playground of X size (keeps kids from playing in the street)

Just my thought

i have sidewalks and i hate them. too much maintenance. after a few years of people updating their yards they get horribly cracked and broken up. you have to pay to redo it all or exchange the concrete for heavy metal sheeting connected into the existing sidewalk.

talk a walk through montrose and see if your love of sidewalks survives. sidewalks may work in tract neighborhoods, but no where else

I love those "quirky" sidewalks except at 2am on a Saturday night...

Some neighborhoods in NW have sidewalks actually. If you drive up and down 1960 you'll see some with sidewalks then some without it. But not a constant stream of sidewalk communities.
