A close friend of mine is in a real bind. She has a very physically active 3 yo boy. He does not do well in a structured environment and it is nearly impossible to get him to sit still, and he thrives on unstructured play & exploration and any type of physical activity.

She is in a real bind to find a daycare in or close to Sugar Land that would be a good fit for her son and his general temperament. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What is her budget?

My son fits (almost 6 yr old) fits the same description. But sooner or later that boy will need to behave in a structured environment. You're friend had better fix that problem now. The daycares/schools won't bend backwards to accomodate him.

My son attended Primerose in West Houston and he was able to calm down and follow directions. I also enrolled him in Tae Kwon Do, swiming, soccer, gymnastics, jogging with me and our dog, etc...all that physical activity did the trick. It took money, time and effort but it was worth it. He's now doing really well in Kinder at a private school.

Does this boy have a father?

my 2 yr old is a typical 2yr old boy. he is into everything at home and won't sit still either....he goes to daycare 3 days out of the week, and every time i pick him up at 6pm....he's sitting perfectly still and quiet at the table or he's playing quietly in a corner....he is a totally different child in the daycare.

my advice is to have your friend enroll her child in affordable/nearby daycare and see if he adapts to the structure there...he may adapt well because of the other children in the classes. if he sees them sitting quietly, he will sit quietly......which leads me to a question, is this child an only child?

Out of curiosity, does this behavior represent 'only child' ?

honestly have no idea....i'm trying to see if it's just my child that acts good at daycare but rambunctious at home or if it's typical toddler behavior.

My 3 kids are very different at school than they are at home for some reason. I think that is pretty typical though.
