Technically that sign is his property and it lies on his property... in Texas, it is legal to use lethal force to prevent the theft.

Funny, I see a lot more Obama signs in yards, yet haven't heard of any cases of theft or vandalism. Does this say something about Obama supporters?

I was house-hunting this summer and noticed that any of the neighborhoods that had a lot of Obama signs turned out to be neighborhoods where I had no desire to ever live.

Are you kidding? I'm on a local Obama-supporter mailing list and have gotten countless emails regarding Obama sign thefts. It happens both ways, don't kid yourself. Just google "stolen obama sign".

Default Yes. I know it's legal.

It's just sad that a person can get killed for attempting to steal something so trivial. I know kids do stupid things but didn't we all? Reminds me of a report not too long ago where these kids were throwing snowballs and passerbys and one guy got upset that he turned around and shot one of them dead.

Default Of course you have to make sure it was Obama supporters that stole the sign.

It could have been a McCain supporter that was too cheap to purchase a sign.
