Well, I'm a native of this city who grew up in one of the most heavily wooded parts of town, and I don't remember mosquitoes being a problem outside of spring and summer. Sure they may be a few, but they're hardly a real nuisance in fall or winter.

Again, insect repellent is your friend. Don't be afraid to use it. Dab a little here and there, and just like that you have to find something else to complain about.

I was speaking of overall weather during the "nice" months. Of course there are going to be days that aren't great. In fact, there can be weeks of cold, fog, mist in the middle of winter, but for many that's more tolerable than summer heat. But in the winter, there are many, many days in the 60s and even 70s, with clear blue skies.

Your negativity isn't very helpful.

Wow...you are completely off base, and laughable. Probably a troll. Hope you get on I-10 and take your lies and misleading statements somewhere else. I suspect you have an agenda, so please take it with you.

To the OP...don't pay any attention to this troll. His characterization of Houston is as false as anything I've ever seen here.

Wow. Thanks for enlightening me. I guess I never knew that I live in Shangri-la. Any negative opinions I have are misguided and not subjective.

Yeah the insects are what I don't miss about Houston. Hearing those locusts, getting bitten by Mosquitos, big roaches, and those little bugs that mate and get stuck to each other. Ugh, it was awful during the summer.

I have to say though as much as I hate the heat sometimes, I do miss it because it's the best pool weather. It feels so good to get in the water when its 95 and humid.

Radio, that's all the charm of Houston. Didn't you know that?

Are you enjoying the "alfresco everything" in LA? Or are you a slave to the grind like most people out there (traffic, work, traffic, sleep and repeat)?

The ONLY reason I'm enjoying LA is because I'm working at the same company from texas just at their CA branch. They pay well and I live comfortably. If not then I would've moved back cus the only you can enjoy LA is with a really nice job. I miss the professionalism of Houston though and the young urban lifestyle which is way better in my opinion. It's less competitive more collaborative and there's better mixing.

I would move back just for that. The night life too. Going out to clubs here seems pointless because the stars don't go to them and party exclusively in the hills. In Houston the clubs and bars are the places to be and where you can meet important ppl. It's all about going out at night in Houston.

Nightlife in Houston is definitely less pretensious. But you still see a lot of $30-50k millionaires here. You can't fake it in LA. COL is just too high to be spending money on expensive clothes/cars and the like.

Nightlife in Houston is better than in LA? really? Never heard that one before. You sure you're going to the right places?

Is it really all about going out in Houston?

LA seems to have the new concepts of nightlife and Houston just has the same typical set-up copied over and over.

I dislike Houston nightlife because of how far apart is, plus there are so many different pockets, you have to choose a limited area per night.

Besides, I dont know if I would go to club's to meet "important" people.
