Oh a rivalry! Everyone knows SMU is Highland Park 13th grade.

This explains a lot, actually.

I graduated from U of H too.

The reason they produce so many CEOs is because U of H has an outstanding Business and Energy academic program.

UH is truly the third best state school in Texas, with Tech being a close fourth. UH has law, architecture, engineering, business and a strong liberal arts program.

I don't even register SMU in the mix. Its almost like what USC in LA was before it got its act together; a rich kids school with more connections than academic prestige. If you go there you're better off networking than actually studying. I would say the same for TCU.

^^^ I agree. Maybe Tech is about the same as UH overall, but UH is becoming one of the top schools in Tx.

UH academics have changed a lot. I know it's hard to swallow for the people used to bashing 'cougar high', but UH is becoming a top destination university. They have had some top ranked programs for years, and are slowly accumulating more.

It's simply ignorant to continue to refer to UH as "cougar high." Not to mention incredibly insulting to its students and faculty. Alas, though, it's just one of the ways Houstonians continue to kick themselves in the @ss by insulting their own city.
