Hello There,
I live in Illinois but plan to move to the Houston area next summer. I have been doing a lot of research on places to live but almost every area that I look is as high as rent in Chicago. One of my family's reason for moving to Texas is for lower cost of living but I don't see a big difference. I can only hope that I am looking in the wrong places. Can someone lead me in the right direction please?? We would like to live in a nice, safe area where residents take value in their property. We would like to live about 30-50 minutes out of Houston. Great schools for our grand children and close to shopping and dining. The price ranges I have seen is in the range of 1000 and up. Is there any nice places with rent lower than that. I understand that price range even up to $2000 plus for house rentals but I paying that much for an apartment is just too much. I've heard good things about Spring, Tomball, Conroe, Splendora....If we settle on living in Houston. Please tell me what side of town is a nice, safe area to live. Sorry if I sound like I'm rambling, I'm in sort of a hurry.

Thanks in advance!
