Here are some photos of the cars people in my neighborhood drive. You will see a sport car, Lexus, tricked-out Escalade and H2. These vehicles belong to ordinary people who live in an ordinary part of town. If cars and houses are any indication, my neighbors are indeed doing well. If you are from CA and like many Californians, think owning a big house and a nice car mean everything in life, you will fit right in. I hope to leave you the impression that I don't think all of Houston is no man's land.

I love H-Town for all that it and the surrounding cities offer....
P.S. soooo Happy that it's not the usual CA (ridiculous) Bling(at least not all the Time). |

Our little piece of Clear Lake has houses that are valued 1.5-2.5x more than that area DavidT is taking pictures of. And you don't find very many of those ''NBA-package'' SUV's or sports cars in the driveways at all. There are more regular sedans than anything, and more minivans than SUV's, believe it or not.
But it looks like in that area many people have more car than house. Car over house is the priority of a certain class/mentality of people all around here. Usually folks who grew up in a shotgun shack, dealt with crappy apartments, then ''moved up'' to a $100k house, and can now afford more house. But they choose the payments on a luxury car lease instead, to prove their success at the stoplight, by showing they've got that much money to throw away. Really, those pictures don't ''look right,'' IMO. Esp the one of the $60k H2 in front of a house that apparently needs new shingles. But anyway, now move over to the $300k-3M neighborhoods around me, and you'll find rides like those pictured... and many that most folks can only dream of. |

MOD NOTE: Folks, let's keep this a pic thread and keep the commentary to a minimum for the benefit of those that drop by to check out the photos. Thanks, appreciate it.

Feeding the birds at lake Fuqua. Actually I don't know if this pool of water has a name. I call it lake Fuqua because that's the street closest to it.
