Hubby will only cook with gas, and since he's the cook in the family, he gets what he wants

I switched to induction 18 months ago. It has better control than gas and the clean up is a breeze. A gas grill will take care of power outages.

I put in a gas cook-top a couple of months ago after putting up with and cursing a ceramic glass cook-top for three years. I hated everything about it with a passion and hardly cooked at all. Cooking is now a pleasure again (and I'm saving money not going out to eat as much!). Induction would have worked too but I didn't want to change most of my cookware. The one drawback with gas is it does put out some heat.

According to a large local appliance company (I have a close friend there), it depends on the product. For ranges and cooktops, gas outsells elec by 2-1. For wall ovens (as versus a range), elec over gas 4-1.

The thing with induction is that you need perfectly flat pans and any type of wok based cooking is nearly impossible.

Gas but I do wish mine had a bit more 'oomph', not enough to singe my eyebrows but a bit more. I am not sure if that is something i can have adjusted - does anyone know?

Gas cooktop, electric induction oven.

The new house we moved in came with all electric appliances. The oven is much better than my previous gas oven. The electric cooktop has to go though.

Induction cooktops are the worst. I would immediately rip it out of any home I purchased that had it. Nothing beats a high quality gas cooktop if you are a true lover of cooking.

Gas ovens aren't the best for baking, but I don't bake. My gas range has a covection option but I've never used it. For everything else, gas ovens are rather nice, but do produce more heat, which isn't a big deal if its not July or August. But if you are a big roaster, nothing beats gas.

I hate electric ranges -- gas is great.
