Areas west of Katy?
And are they any good? I am relocating with my company to Texas. My service area are almost equally divided between San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. I am thinking Katy or nearby areas, but I am having trouble finding anything west of there. Any help would be appreciated.

I know some people who live in Brookshire, and another friend who divides her time equally between Houston and Austin has a house in Smithville. Smithville's claim to fame is that the movie "Hope Floats" was filmed there.

Bastrop...San Marcos, these are growing places with many buisness ties to the San Antonio and Austin area. Within reach of Houston.

I would live in Austin because at least the drive to San Antonio would be short and that would be two thirds of your time. You really won't find too much west of Katy. It would be towns like Sealy and La Grange which have less than 10,000 people.

Heck, you might as well go out to El Campo, Inez, Seguin, Wharton, Halletsville, Schulenberg, or something like that and buy up some property, build a little house on it and have a deer lease.

Actually you can live in Luling and hit up the Buc-ee's for your deer corn supply.

Sealy is probably about the farthest west from the Houston metro area that you can find some homes for sale. Columbus is right about in the middle of the 3 cities, but I doubt you'd find many (if any at all) homes for sale. I would check yahoo real estate.

Depending on how your time will be divided among the three cities you might want to consider something closer to Austin than Houston. I spent 25 years in Houston and finally redrew a couple of sales territories to give myself more Austin and San Antone and a lot less Houston.
Smartest thing I ever did. I'm an hour from Austin, an hour and 10 minutes from San Antonio and 3 1/2- 4 hours from Houston. Much nicer pace and standard of living in the Hill Country.
Otherwise consider something like Hempstead or Brenham, probably equidistant from each.

Katy itself is a great place
Katy is a great place you may not need to go west of Katy. It is worth it to stay in Katy.
