I have heard horror stories on the commute from TW to Downtown during the weekdays, but how about the weekends? Say for a baseball game or the sort. Or after rushhour on a weekday for a game or to see friends etc. In other words, if it isn't rush hour (define the hours of this), what is the 30 mile drive like? Thanks.

On the weekends, it's pretty good with the exception of between Beltway 8 and 610. If you are ever heading into town for something that you don't want to be late for, I'd go ahead and take Hardy Toll Road to be on the safe side. If there is no rush or deadline, you should be fine on 45.

Most people who live in TW are about as likely to drive to Houston on the weekend as they are to Austin or Dallas or San Antonio.

As a kid just out of college, I would hope to make it more than that. Heard TW doesn't have a great personality for young professionals. IDK

It should take you around 40 to 45 mins with no traffic (and if measured by freeway travel only). I used to commute to school everyday from Spring so I remember how bad I-45 can be, haha. Just make sure to check Google Maps first to make sure there's no accidents or stalls in your way (which is what the problem always is)

Really depends how far you live from a freeway. It might take a extra 20 minutes if you're way in a neighborhood. From 45 about 40 min so do the math .

I know a guy that works in The Woodlands, lived in The Woodlands and as soon as he could he moved to Midtown.
He says that he loves it over there even though he has a very long commute.

So, you're saying that the OP would not go see a baseball game, football game, basketball game, soccer match or visit friends in town?

I met friends in TW recently at Bar Louie, and the place was packed with nothing but young professionals. Maybe I was there on an odd night or something, but it seemed their were a lot of young professionals in that area.

I have driven from TW to Houston many times during the week and weekends. It depends on several factors including what is your point A and what is your point B, traffic, accidents, weather (e.g. rain slows everyone down), and how fast you go. I have made it from The Heights to the Rayford/Sawdust exit in 21 minutes if there's no traffic on 45 but then it took another 20 minutes to get home in TW because of the traffic and lights.

Around 10:30 a.m. during the week it took me 35 minutes to get from TW to The Heights. Conversely in traffic that same commute took 55 minutes.
