We're a British family moving to Houston next month. We've applied for the British School but are now thinking of widening the search as the location of the school REALLY limits where we can live.

Can anyone suggest any good schools? Not even sure if it's best to go public or private or how the whole thing works.

We've heard great things about the Katy/Sugarland areas so are thinking of around there. Hubby will be working on Rogerdale Rd if that means anything to anyone!

Any help given will be much appreciated. TIA.

Your husband will be working on the westside of town just outside Beltway 8. You have a good choice of public schools if you want to go that route. Search 77024 and 77079 on the forum for more info. on public schools and neighborhoods.

As far as private, The Village School has a very high number of ex-Pat students. The school is basically Dairy Ashford/Briar Forest area.

You have a lot of options...

Theres also the Awty International School, but I think that's pretty close to the British School.

thanks everyone. Yes, AWTY too close to British School. Meant to say that I'm looking for schools for small children. My son is 3 and daughter is 4.5. So I might be looking at nurseries/daycare for the youngest. Not sure!

Be aware there are plans to move the British School to "west of Houston" to be in place for 2016.

That might be of interest - we have two girls there, 11 and 8.

Also, should have mentioned there are two buses running from Katy direct to the British School that leave at 07:30am from the Target at the top of Fry Road. I believe there are similar arrangements for Sugarland and Lakes on Eldridge.

That might also help the "where to live" question...

For kids that age consider putting them in a Montessori school.
