I'm wondering if someone with experience could tell me the busiest traffic hours driving in from Seabrook? From there to my husband's office is about 40 miles, with 25 miles of that going west/north on Beltway 8. So he would be going from Seabrook to 45 (I guess) to the Beltway (his office is around Westchase literally on the Beltway). I guess what I'm really wondering is how early he would have to leave to miss the bulk of traffic? He already goes in pretty early most days before the rest of the family even wakes up, with meetings sometimes at 7 a.m. Thanks!

Assuming you live close to 146, IMO the best route to Westchase would be 146 to Red Bluff, Red Bluff to Genoa/Red Bluff, Genoa Red Bluff to BW8, BW8 south and around to Richmond exit / Westchase. Much less traffic than NASA road 1 and 45.

He would need to leave no later than 6:15 - 6:30 to miss the bulk of the traffic.

To add to the above, if 146 is out of the way, he can use Kirby to Red Bluff, and so on.

I'd say he'd have to leave just before 6.
It'll take 20 minutes to get to BW8/45, and then I can't really speak for the rest of the trip, other than I know the tollway backs up around Missouri City (construction) and again around Westchase. I'm guessing a 1 hour drive if he left at 6.

Afternoon traffic will be worse unless he can leave earlier than 3:30.

Thanks! That's very helpful. I'm interested in the area, but he's worried about the drive.

Houston traffic is a nightmare - that is why most advise to live near where you work when possible but there is something to be said about living where it most makes you happy. Just depends on how much sitting in traffic does or doesn't bother you.
