I'm not thrilled. My husband is flying into Houston today to start his new job on Monday. Tornados and hail don't sound friendly.

Eh....we'll see what happens. My call is it won't be as bad here as they're making it sound. But that could interfere with flying into town, and IAH really tends to get backed up when the heavy wet stuff happens. I remember flying out to Raleigh a couple years ago from IAH and I had to wait five hours because something nasty came through earlier.

It was raining something fierce last night when I was driving back in from Baytown on 225. I actually had to pull over to the side of the road. There were four or five other cars doing the same thing. You could see nothing but water outside.

I'll go one better. I've seen the word upcoming misspelled on the Houston Chronicle's web site! It was in a section of the sports area and they were promoting a new video. A newspaper misspelling a word. And, yes, like you mentioned, television folks are not watching what they type. Even cable access has gone down the tubes. Times sure have changed. The Chronicle people spelled upcoming with two M's. It, of course, is supposed to have one. If people are going to be in the news business, written or otherwise, it is vital not only to be able to read, but also to spell and, furthermore, understand the English language!

Simply put, folks, it's time for people to regroup.

Head-on collision kills 2, injures 3 on Highway 290 | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (broken link)

I did not need to read about this just a few hours after driving this same stretch of 290....stop going the wrong way on the freeways people....it's not that freakin hard.
