Default This is a Public Service Announcement brought to you by jfre81

Hey folks! If you drive a car with a stick shift (e.g. not an automatic transmission) please remember to pull on your parking brake before getting out, locking it up and walking away.

A couple hours ago I pulled into the parking lot of Food Town in Pearland on FM 518, with a burger from Jack In The Box before going into the store, which I ate before going in....right after finishing it and getting out of my car, I saw this other car which a guy had just parked and went into the store and it started rolling. With nobody in it. It was just creeping along, but started going down the slope and towards a couple other cars in the parking lot. I decided to save some people a trip to the body shop and ran out there to stop it and hold it. A guy working at the Food Town corralling shopping carts saw me doing this and went in to find the car's owner while I had the car rested against my knee after pushing it somewhat back into the parking space. Two or three minutes later the dude comes out to unlock his door so he can pull the brake.

And for my trouble, he basically paid for my gourmet meal from Jackindacrack...

Plus nobody I know got killed in South Central L.A....today was a good day.

On the same note...

If you're flying through a crowded parking lot, through the spaces not the aisles, please go 20 mph with your cell phone off and carefully looking both ways.

50 dollars worth of sushi all over the car floor. But at least it wasn't a trip to the body shop.

Yikes....personally I'd be considering extending the *5-second-rule* to the *2-minute-rule." I've never eaten sushi off my car floor, but I'm sure given the proper motivation I'd give it a try. Having just dropped a Grant on it before it ending up on the floor might be motivation enough. That's expensive.

Then again, so is the body shop.

I'll bet that sushi juice will leave your car smelling pretty ripe. Hopefully the floor mats took the brunt of it. You can simply throw those in the gentle cycle. How did it fly out anyway? Were you eating it? I always thought sushi was about as "car food" as spaghetti & meatballs. And definitely not worth $50.

I have rubber mats over the good ones. Liner in the back too. I think the box slid from the seat and hit just right to pop open.

Needless to say, I wasn't a happy girl.

Jfre...if I hadn't done a plant run earlier in the day, leaving dirt and things all over the liner, I might have considered it. You can only admit things like that on the internet.

Tomorrow they're going to start tearing up Holcombe Blvd. in the Medical Center @ Fannin/Brays Bayou. They're gonna be working on this for awhile, and traffic is going to be godawful around there.

Just thought I'd spread some cheer and good news.
