It has been awesome. We spent the entire weekend outside and everywhere we went, people who discovered that we are new to town kept telling us, "Don't get used to this."

We'll happily appreciate every great weather day we can get!

I was looking at all the new homes being built in seven meadows, westheimer lakes, firethorne, etc. Besides the price difference how can I tell what would be a better community if its all brand new?? All of the communities I mentioned are Katy school district but how can you tell in Houston what will be good and what will not??

Seven Meadows and Firethorne should be good ones. I don't know anything about Westhiemer Lakes.

Gotta...I understand wanting to leave LA ...was born in the general area, moved...ended up back in the late 70's early 80's...better know as the disco years...lol. Even back then, we referred to LA as "the land of the plastic people"! Texas has been a real relief, you will settle in just fine. Not to worry...Sunny

Some kid at Dickinson High School stabbed another kid today....

You know, it was a lot better back in the day when they just let kids who had a problem with each other just duke it out the old fashioned way. Let them get it out of their system, pull it apart, then whatever. Either he gets his ass kicked or you do, or maybe a little bit of both. Most of the time it's all over after that. Now every little thing gets sent to court. So every time some kid decides he needs to get even, he might as well make it count. Enter knives, guns etc.

But instead, we'll be stupid and blame it on GTA4.

Anybody going to the Art Car Parade on Saturday? I'll be there volunteering. There'll be an after-party at Discovery Green... um, after.

Wysiwyg, that means there will be *gasp* PEOPLE and VIBRANCY in DOWNTOWN! You should take the missus and go!

Thanks for the heads up as usual houstoner. We'll definitely try to find time to pass by.

looking at the pics i find it hard to see the diversity of houston. I think this event needs more promotion. people love showing crazy cars and thats all across every culture, not just hippies
a tiny japanese car show in CA already has what is called the bozo style (the picachu-look) street cars http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/even...st2008=260.jpg
we should have these by now

Hmm, yeah... a car like that would be at a different kind of car show here. Art car people are a different breed! RGV took some pretty good pictures of it last year. Houston Art Car Parade 2007

Unhappy Houston Loses A Legend

Guys, I wish I wouldn't bring this to you, but the great city of Houston lost a great legend about 12:35 pm today. Ron Stone, who was a news anchor at KHOU (Channel 11) and KPRC (Channel 2), has passed away after a bout with cancer. He was a great institution in Houston for many years. I only wish I had gotten to know him even once. He will be missed by many in the city and I know all of you longtime viewers who remember him will do so fondly.

Do you folks have any thoughts on this?

By the way, gang, here's a link for you:
