Looking to move to Waller next year. Am an elementary teacher; what are positions for this line of work like in Waller with the current economic climate? I want to rent whilst looking to buy; what is a nice area (I mean really nice) to live in whilst deciding where to settle? I also considered Tyler (other side of the state I know). Any preferences on the two? Thank you in anticipation for your help.

I agree with mustang1, if you'll be working in Waller, you'll be better off in Cypress TX on Hwy 290. There is a lot of housing on the intersections of Hwy 290 and Barker Cypress, Fry Rd., Mason Rd, and others.

The drive will be much less if you stay near Hwy 290, instead of Hwy 249.

Thank you JustCinco--definitely food for thought and will have a look at the area you've mentioned on arrival.

You can get a lot of house for the money in Champions - renting or buying. The area is nice, and the drive wouldn't be bad at all.

Use to be very nice now its just OK. That also depends on the sub division you live in.

Cy fair district is just ok.

Have you considered The Woodlands or Spring?

stay north of 1960. The area between 1960 and beltway 8 especaially bammel-north houson and beltway 8 is gang infested and has high crime rate. It may not look as bad as Broadway road near Hobby field but its actually more dangerous. The most dangerous area in Houston is Greenspoint aka Gunspoint. There may be more gang members in south houston but they are mostly surenos they will try to avoid law enforcement and confentations. Greenspoint has Crips they are a whole order of magnitude more aggressive.

Texas User, I think it was established in one of your other posts, that you never really lived in Champions. You thought you lived in Champions, but you didn't. The southside of FM 1960 where you lived...is not Champions. Bammel-North Houston? Not Champions. Veterans Memorial...not Champions. There's a big difference between Champions and the area you lived in. There always has been.
