Thanks, but I was just responding to the sentiment expressed by Houston parent and others upthread. One thing I have noticed about these forums as they pertain to private schools (and not just on the Houston forum) is that people seem to think 1). very good private schools are easy to get into; you just have to have the money and 2). nobody ever seems to leave good private schools, so your zoned school is inconsequential.

That said, I don't think the poster who resurrected this thread should necessarily pass up the opportunity at SJS, and if I weren't happy with my kids' public school, which might always be the case at some point in the future, I would pay the money to put them in a private school in a heartbeat.

About a decade ago one of my sister's friends was transferred from Lamar to St. Pius. She said there was no difference between the academics (as in between Lamar's IB and the upper end classes of St. Pius) but that people at St. Pius were "more snobby".

I would imagine though that SJS is indeed in its own league.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but what did you end up doing here? Similar boat for us.

We have our 3rd child who’s in K at HISD magnet GT, but was just offered a 1st grade spot at SJS. She has older siblings who are in 2nd and 4th respectively right now in the same HISD GT Magnet. One kids tuition is reasonable, but if I have 4 kids at SJS I’m a bit worried about 120k tuition per year. Also, not sure what the chance is of even getting the older kids into school now that they have a younger sibling in.

On the other hand, we are constantly flirting with the idea of moving to SBISD - would be zoned to MDE, SBM, MHS.

It might be somewhat easier to get your older children in SJS later in middle or high school entry points as legacy/siblings if you take the SJS spot for child 3 now. 4 kids times 12 years will be a lot of private school tuition. If you can afford to move to SBISD you can save $$$ and put the money into a college fund for the 4 kids.
