Does anyone have advice on where to live in North/Northwest Houston? I am currently living in Katy, however, my job is in Greenspoint (BW8 & 45) and will be moving to the Woodlands in a year. I was thinking about Spring or Cypress. I am trying to find an area that is affordable and has good schools and safe neighborhoods. Also, my husband works at Barker Cypress & 290, so I don't want to make his commute too far. Thank you for any input!

Working in and living in the Woodlands would be very ideal to a lot of folks age 30+ who can afford it!

Home prices in The Woodlands start from $85,000. It's not like it isn't 'affordable'.

I would also look at Spring Trails, Spring (in Klein ISD), Klein, Champions and Cypress - all great areas.

Lots of really nice neighborhoods (with great schools) that are located near 249, which gives you good access to the Beltway and Greenspoint (15-20 minutes) as well as The Woodlands via Louetta or Spring Cypress (30 minutes) ...not to mention your husband's commute to 290/Barker Cypress (5-10 minutes).

One of the best areas of Northwest Harris County that would put you in a location ideally situated between each of your jobs is the "HP Corridor". It offers the exact same demographics, six-figure avg income levels, size, big trees and great schools that you'll find in the best parts of The Woodlands. Check out neighborhoods like: Longwood, Lakewood Glen, Lakewood Glen Trails, Lakewood Oaks Estates, Lakewood Forest, Hunters Valley, Villaggio, Gettysburg, Norchester, Lakewood Crossing, Rock Creek, Stable Gate, Northlake Forest, Coles Crossing, Lismore Lake, Tuscany, Lakes at Northpointe, Northpointe Forest, Village Creek, Wincrest Falls, Secret Forest, Park Forest, Stillwater Village, Stablewood Farms, etc.

Kingwood is also close enough to Greenspoint.

You definitely need to live off 249. It would be easy for both of you to get to work.

Maybe as far as posh Woodlands standards go, but there are plenty of people who can't afford even mortgage/tax/ins for that, living in the city and stuck there in a vicious cycle. These people have computers, too. Believe it or not!

I would suggest 77379, 77070, 77375. Take hwy 249 to the beltway and go straight to greenspoint. I used to work at the Clarion hotel over there many years ago and it was an easy drive.
Schools are good in those zips. Klein, and cyfair, and Tomball.

Greenspoint aka Downtown North Houston.

How about Spring? Try Spring.
