It is a terrible idea to move here without a job.

Good luck.

Why move with no job?
You can't really expect my brother to be able to still live in Atlanta and somehow drive 11+ hours to an interview in Houston without a place to stay, even though he is looking we still neee to find a place to stay.

They make planes you know... Very short trip each way. Next I am sure it will be that he doesn't have the money to travel. The right company will usually take are of that if the credentials are good enough. Not sure what kind of work we are talking about here.

Also I would expect someone to have some interviews lined up and then come here to secure the job and then find a place to live after getting viable employment. Also interviewing technology is great. Many companies will interview over the phone or via skype and finalize an in-person interview if selected for the job.

At that point then you begin the process of finding a place to live even if it's an apartment for 6 months.

What is wrong with where you currently are? You said you were currently in Katy, correct? Could he not stay with you where you currently live while he does his interview?

Not that it helps, but you can get a decent 3/2 SFH in Katy for under $1300.

I'm in Bear Creek and have rentals on both sides of me. The Patio home on one side goes for $1,350 and the 2 story on the other side goes for $1500. These are nice enough homes but nothing fancy at all.

Sorry OP but I don't think your price point exists outside of the worst parts of town.
