Wow, thanks for the reply. I guess we should just be prepared for random delays, even after the house is complete. We've heard that closing can take weeks, and sometimes months. Even if they complete the construction in 5 months or so, I don't foresee closing taking place immediately thereafter.

We signed our contract on May 4, 2014, approved and executed on May 5th and design center appointment was completed on May 22, 2014. We are still waiting to see movement on our lot, but my neighbors on both sides of us got their foundation framed this week. We were told that our home should be completed sometime in October. We are building out in Riverstone and the plan is called The Gardner.

Everything is slow right now. Their is a serious trade shortage in Houston. Concrete is a couple of weeks out. Trim carpenters are in high demand. Foundations sit waiting for another frame crew to finish. Tile setters are in huge demand. Plenty of work here if you are a skilled construction trade.

There is a bidding war for trades, with builders paying more and more...thus leading to price increases. Couple that with the lack of inventory in Houston and you get what you have right now.
