Default Relocating to Houston

I am in the process of relocating to Houston TX, and I am wondering if anyone from Houston can suggest where to live and work. I will be going to Houston Baptist University in the fall and I want to live in that area or around it. And also which side of town is better NW or SW and is there more side of Houston then I know about. I am also a single mother and want my child in a good school system. Thanks to anyone who reads this and gives me feedback.

The area around HBU is not the best. I would either live inside the loop and commute out or live in Sugarland.

I agree the Fondren and Beechnut area is pretty tough. The inner loop would be your best bet if you want convenience. As far as schools public education: Houston Independent School District, HISD Connect - Home, 4400 W 18th, 713-556-6005 (north of Westheimer); Alief Independent School District, Home, 12302 High Star, 281-498-8110 (south of Westheimer). Hope this helps

I question whether SW-side HISD or Alief districts are school systems you really want your child in. I'd suggest Stafford MSD or especially Fort Bend ISD before either one of those.

Klein and Tomball commuting to HBU???? HBU is on the other side of the Planet from Tomball. OP said she wanted to live near the area.
Sugarland (FBISD) for your situation would be best.Excellent schools and housing. Or you can rent deep in the residental part of the Galleria area, depending on budget. HISD does have some good schools in that area. Briargrove Elem. and Grady Middle. I had a cousin that went to HBU and she lived in Galleria area and it wasn't a bad drive.

^^Are you a real estate agent? Because to suggest far northwest Klein or Tomball for the OP when she will be attending HBU on the southwest side is beyond insane.

Edit: I've checked out your other posts. Slow day at the office?

Houston-Sugar Land is on a distinguished road
I agree, Tomball or Klein should not be considered at all. The commute will kill you. A nice area is Sugar Land. Sugar Land has many several plan communities and the school district is Fort Bend Independent School District. All school districts have their challenges but I believe that Ft Bend is pretty good. Living in Sugar Land or Missouri City (it also has its good areas) you will be using the SW Freeway. The commute from Sugar Land to HBU is about 15 minutes. Obviously every day is different. The SW freeway (59 S) is pretty good most of the time. The freeway went thru a major expansion not too long ago and the traffic moves relatively quick. Good luck with your move. If I can be of any help, I will be glad to do so.
