Here's the original story in the Chronicle, I was going to post this the other day, but I forgot.

I think the stats is misleading because the city is growing, doesn't mean the white flight is going away. Let me know when you start seeing strollers everywhere inside the loop and then maybe i am convince white flight is not happening. Because as it stand now, it is the childless professionals moving into Houston and living inside the loop, the minute a child come into picture, "white flight" is happening.

Wealth is not coming into Houston. The wealth is coming from Houston. Sorry but the 1% is not going to relocate here unless they are already here.

not real flight as I have not seen any take over any HISD schools...the ones that do attend crowd up at the typical HISD schools that whites attend

some may not know but whites have abandoned areas in the loop some thought was always minority

Who knew Cullen MS, Jones High, Milby, etc. was not built for blacks?

Top 1% is right under 400k a year BEFORE taxes. At entry level 236k a year after taxes,You bet your bippee they follow the salary. They are told to jump, they jump. Companies are moving here, doctors are moving here, tech is moving here. These people don't have time commute to burbs, they're of demand from someone in the top .1%

236k gets you a 700k house. Look at sales within and around the loop for that price range. Completely on fire...if you can find one.Heck even past the Beltway on the west side. Where is the demand coming from? The people who have always lived here in that range.? Not possible with the demand v. supply situation going on. Our neighborhood alone has people moving in from farther out and out of state. And yeah, they are white. So what? If you have ever driven River Oaks, Briargrove,Avalon, Tanglewood, Memorial,West U... There are strollers everywhere. Even areas that were more transitional years ago like Meyerland, Bellaire , Braes Heights, Spring Branch,Oak Forest, Timbergrove, Garden Oaks etc. Pushed by nannies or run by their 30-40 year old moms.

Granted, most will opt for private school rather than pioneering a trasitional school.

Lots of kids in West U these days, based on my trips to visit family. A lot of those families are from out of state or out of country, too. My relative tells me that Montrose has lots of kids, too. Houston is a different city than even 5 years ago.

Has nothing to do with "White flight" since they are talking about people moving from a different state to Houston.
"White flight" is supposed to be people moving from inner city to the suburbs.

People in Houston are obsessed with the idea of "White flight" and "Reverse white flight"

Yep. When whites start to show up in numbers at the regular ol schools their zoned too instead of jumping hoops and all that jazz at magnets and going $25k private then come back and talk about reverse white flight.

When the typical schools start to reflect it something is actually happening.
