New kid in the block with Gigabit Internet. I am sick and tired of paying $75/month for 15Megs from Comcast. En-Touch has been quietly laying fiber in Riverstone for the past 6 months, and is time to kick Comcast OUT....

"One-gigabyte-per-second Internet speeds are coming to Houston and guess who is getting it first? Yep, Riverstone! EnTouch will be introducing the “really fast Internet speeds” in Riverstone, Sienna Plantation and Cinco Ranch over the next month."

Service is not available in your area.
They may be the fastest but when you don't service but a few areas it won't matter.

Entouch is even worse than Comcast. Good luck with them.

I am not switching until ATT Gigapower or Google Fiber makes it to Houston.

Why is American internet so slow? - The Week

So, the US is behind on speed, but first in cost?

If you think internet is slow here, go to Australia.

Nothing to do with money. Just as the article says. There is little competition and no motivation to spend billions upgrading infrastructure. This is also how they over charge so much. Google Fiber is rolling out very very slowly. Until that gets in full swing we won't see much help. AT&T is going to compete with Gigapower, but they won't be rolling it out much faster. Even in parts of Austin where they have 300mbit on gigalines some users are getting much slower speeds. Not to mention they are charging 70/month for those speeds. We live in a country where corporations win and consumers lose. It just seems to get worse and worse too. I think we are at least 3-5 years from seeing fiber in Houston. Most people don't need speeds that faster anyways. My 50mbit Comcast for like 45 bucks works just fine. I am sure Comcast will open their speeds up to 100-200mbit to compete. They have most of the infrastructure right now. They are twice as fast as AT&T Uverse. No need to increase till they have more competition.

I don't even understand or believe Entouch has 1gigabit speeds. They are one of the crappiest cable providers there is.

BTW, deregulation is completely to blame for our speeds lagging behind other countries.

Has anyone ever bothered to compare the shear geographical size comparisons?

I think we lack in speed has more to do with shear size (and cost to install) than monopoly.
