Freeport/BASF
Hi all, currently in TN but will be in the area in Jan for a test at BASF(production tech training program). Does anyone know what is included on the test? I have been with my current employer for over 10 yrs and the word test scares me to death!!!
Also would like your suggestions about a area that is half-way between Freeport and Houston. If all goes well, my wife will be able to transfer within her company to Houston. We are looking for a nice f amily-friendly area with good schools, low crime, etc. Gotta keep the wife and the 10yr old safe
Thanks

you might look in Lake Jackson at housing. Perhaps even Pearland but it will be a longer commute for you but probably not too bad going in that direction.

Traffic on 288 south of Pearland isn't bad but it's still a pretty good haul to the BASF plant in Freeport which is practically on the coast.
Rosharon (288 @ FM 1462) is kind of the midway point from Freeport to Houston, at least the South Loop, and Angleton is further south. It all depends on how far you want to drive to work everyday.

I guess I will have to adjust to any commute. I would much rather been in traffic than my wife and son. I will make sure to check out Pearland, and the other areas mentioned when I am in town. How long is the commute to BASF from Missouri City, mapquest has Missouri City and Freeport about 50 miles apart. Do you know if it is 50 miles of chaotic traffic?
Thanks!

Not really. Once you get on 288 south of Highway 6 you're home free. There really isn't much to Rosharon, and 288 kind of bypasses Angleton to the west (although it does pass through the fringe of the city limits). 288 stops being a freeway in Lake Jackson and you will have to stop at some red lights before getting to Freeport.
