US 59 from Spur 10 to SH 99
http://ftp.dot.state.tx.us/pub/txdot...ng-summary.pdf (PDF link, pages 77-86 are most interesting, this highway is going to become a behemoth after all is said and done)
Best and pretty much only way to expand 59 right there. This, along with continuous feeder roads, will help with the Eisenhower-era suicide entrance "ramps" getting on 59 from FM 762.

You're right about that. The entrance ramp merging into 59 from 762 always makes me uncomfortable.

Just found out that Segment C of Grand Parkway is not economically feasible beyond extending 99 past Thompson Hwy, but the county are still getting approvals to widen Crabb River rd from 59 to past George Ranch HS.

Can you elaborate?

I too had understood that the portion of the grand parkway south of 59 is pretty futuristic. Heard that at an infrastructure conference a while back. In other words, probably not going to happen any time soon, but I don't have any further details, just that I don't think it's funded.

Regarding this thread in general, yes, the I-69 expansion will relieve the bottleneck at the grand parkway, but it will just push it out further. It will be a big shot in the arm to the Rosenberg area in particular. Not just the expanded capacity, but modernizing all the intersections out there will be huge. Interestingly, they are doing the portion from 762 to spur 10 first. I think it's due to complications with the railroad at 762, so that had to be worked out a little later. In any event, I think it's all supposed to be completed in 3-4 years. It will be a different world out there after that. It's already growing fast and this will speed up the growth. Most everything north/east on 59 is built out.

I'm not exactly sure. I think Thompson Hwy is 762. I don't know if they are going to widen crabb river to accomodate a future highway (with overpasses, feeder roads, and all that), or merely widen it and keep the grade and traffic lights as they are.

Our car suffered TWO blow outs on the drivers side of our vehicle. The tire and wheel were completely cut through by the concrete or road material. Has anyone else had this experience on this segment of road construction?
