I have only been in Houston for two years now and enjoy it greatly. Everyone complains about the summer heat but, I love it. I decided to move to houston due to a visit in mid summer where the high was 96 and the humitidy was 98 percent. I enjoy how friendly the people are although they aren't as friendly as the northwest the city is 3 times as large as Portland and twice the size of Seattle. Only complaint that I here that I think is ligitimate is houston is not a very pretty city. This is true to an extent, whole area is flat and there is not much as far as natural beauty but, it sure is nice how clean down town is compared to some cities.

Wax in my ear? Hallucinating?

Read the other threads....please. Seattle, Portland, and Minneapolis, in all their gray doom and gloom, are constantly berated for how UNfriendly they are. Portland and Seattle are, hands down, the least friendly places I've ever lived.

Bluebonnets are also found along White Oak Bayou between 11th street and 610. You can see from TC Jester. Beautiful in the spring.

The weather is sort of a perverse attraction in Houston for me. I love the different changes. The clear crisp blue days of winter, the thunderstorms of spring, the gray haze of February, the balmy nights of summer...and the way these conditions sort of alternate...I love it.

I'm a native of the Chicagoland area...Gary, Indiana to be exact, and I LOVE EVERYTHING that Houston is and Chi-town is not.

Otherwise, Houston is cool. I'm a native so maybe I'm not allowed to respond here, but oh well. Like I said, I've been here all of 30 years. It can get redundant pretty fast, but that's not a very good reason for me to leave. Being in your 20s, being home where everything is familiar, and making a 6 digit income can make life 99% stress free! And I'm all about staying chill. My immediate family and a lot of my extended family are also here. You can't beat the cost of living compared to other giant US cities. I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon!!
What is the most economical area to live and save, close to the Nasa Center. I heard that the school are excellent in clear Creek, but what about housing? I have two kids 8 &10 and I want for them to be in a save environment and get the best education that they can.
