Hi Guys,

I am going to stay in Houston for one year, my work is in Tomball and I will probably stay in the Galleria.

I have heard that Houston has one of the worst traffic jams all over the states, therefore I am not sure that The galleria would be the right decision. I hate long commutes, I also hate staying in suburbs. I like noisy city where malls, restaurants, bars…etc are around.

Another concern, I guess The Galleria to Tomball commute is against the flow, because as far as i Know traffic jams are only towards downtown. Is that true?

please I need your help and thank you.

Much of your drive will be against traffic, but the Galleria area and the West Loop will have traffic all over both ways. There is always traffic along the Galleria corridor from 59 up to 290 it seems like. If you take the beltway, expect traffic in both directions along some sections. I have a friend that was doing the commute from Tomball to the Galleria vis 290 and he spent over an hour in traffic, but another friend's wife takes the BW8 to the Westpark Tollway on occasion. So you have a couple of options that should be reasonable for a reverse commute. In no traffic, that is a 40-45 minute drive, probably under an hour with some traffic. But if you leave early enough, at least you would be leaving the Galleria when many people are just heading from home TO the Galleria, so the local traffic should not be bad.

Good luck!

It can be twenty minutes to just get out of the Galleria area to the highways. This is NOT a good commute for someone who hates commuting. Why not live in the Heights or in Spring Branch either north of I10 or south of I10.

You still get all the shops/restaurants/nightlife without the hellish commute.

Why not look at the 1960 area or if that's not upscale enough, the Vintage or even the woodlands ?
